I love your pictorial documentation of that gorgeous tree!
Just finished reading Richard Mabey's 'Beechcombings' which taught me a lot about beech trees and their history. In the book it said that trees on their own like your oak are called standards. It is a good name when you think about their impact on the landscape around.
